会社生活: 新人さん New Girl at work

For my 1st post, I would like to talk about my work life.

初めてのブログは社内の事を話します。

I work at a public sector company, where I work as part of an administration team. The company is a very friendly atmosphere, and I really enjoy working there.

私は現在公共企業で、事務関連の部署に所属してます。この会社はとってもアットホームな雰囲気のある会社で、とても楽しんで仕事しています。

Recently, we have had a new person turn up at the end of August to support my admin role for three months. She is from Romania and in her late twenties.

ところが最近、3か月契約で、私のサポート役として新人さんが入ってきました。彼女はルーマニア人の20代後半の女性です。

I vividly remember the first question I asked her 

忘れもしない、

私からの初めての質問の回答。

“What time do you start?”

何時から仕事始めるのかな？

She answered “Around 10:05, or 10:10 something like that!"

10:05, か 10:10 ごろかな？その日により違う？

The Japanese part of me screamed! I have still not gotten used to the lack of punctuality in the UK, which even extends to its bus services.  

私の日本人の部分が　”何言ってるんだ？？そんなあやふやな時間あり得ない!!!”

と叫んでいた、が勿論すまし顔でそうなんだ。英国の時間のだらしがなさにも慣れていないのに、それを上回っているルーマニア人!

She very rarely comes to work on time, even though I sat there foolishly hoping each day that she would. Despite this, she came today at 9:15 because her husband needed to go somewhere early in the morning. I was totally surprised that she came so early to work, a full 45 minutes before her shift!

それから後、毎日のように10分、5分遅れたり、たまに少し早く来たりとしていたので、彼女の到着時間に期待をするのはやめて自分の時間に合わせて仕事をしていると、ある日急に9時15分頃に到着。来てみると、旦那様がどこかに行く用事があり彼が送ってくれるので、その為早く出勤、もちろん帰宅する時間も彼次第。笑

But as I am a very typical Japanese, I will continue to come to work 15 minutes early and switch on PC, ready to go.

私は典型的な日本人なので、いやそれ以上に時間には神経質なほうなので、絶対に15分前には会社に到着していないと遅れたという気分になるタイプである。もちろん時には30分前には到着して、コーヒ入れてパソコンの目の前で時間前から仕事を初めてるのも稀ではない。

I am looking forward to working more with this lady, as I feel I still have a lot to learn about different workplaces’ culture!

兎に角、彼女とはもう少し長く一緒に働くことになるだろうから、今度はどんな驚くことをしてくれるのかが楽しみだ。
